Natalia Mossmann Koch is a passionate ecologist and lichenologist who grew up in south Brazil. She got her PhD and her Master’s in Ecology and her Bachelor degree in Biology. She has been a postdoc/researcher at the University of Minnesota working in the Ecology, Evolution and Behavior Department since the beginning of 2021. Her research is focused on lichen ecology and on how lichens respond to different types of environmental changes, especially the impacts of human activities on lichen diversity and their functional traits in forests, urban areas and extreme environments. Her interest to collaborate with artists is inspired by the multiple crafts she learned as a child, from embroidery to crochet and knitting, and she is passionate about the multiple ways lichens can be a source of inspiration.
